  • Primer: Matching HRD Logbook's DXCC Awards totals to LOTW's DXCC Awards totals

After making a submission and downloading my LOTW data, I was reflecting on a question that comes up from time-to-time. That is... "Why don't my DXCC awards totals in HRD Logbook match the LOTW DXCC awards totals?"

Well, they SHOULD... and they will, if your log is accurate... and if LOTW is accurate.

Here's how I match up my log reports:

    Cross-checking awards data.png

If you look at this report, you'll see that the column in the LOTW report that is titled "Total (Current)" will match the sum of HRD Logbook's Submitted and Granted values. In other words, the LOTW reports shows them in TWO columns - LoTW QSLs in Process AND in Total (Current).

In my report, there was a discrepancy. Most folks would assume that the discrepancy is in HRD. Turns out...

The error is in LOTW. See the attached. Sometimes it's necessary to dig through your data to make sure it matches.

Re: Primer: Matching HRD Logbook's DXCC Awards totals to LOTW's DXCC Awards totals

Now that my application is complete, I thought I'd update a couple images here.

DXCC Current Countries Match.pngDXCC ALL Countries Match.png

These show the results after the application has been accepted for both Current and Current+Deleted countries.

UPDATE: I got the folks at ARRL/LoTW to fix the discrepancy regarding 4K1F (as described below) and now their records match my records.

Here's another image that describes the LoTW awards report, as it can be a bit confusing.

Finally, here's an image that depicts the relationships between the QSL and Awards tabs in the ALE... and the awards tracking totals in HRD Logbook.
        Award-Tracking-Relationships.png

NOTE: "Submitted" is a transitional state. Confirmations are in a "Submitted" state AFTER they have been submitted as part of an application and UNTIL they are accepted for award credit. At that point, Granted totals should reflect those confirmations and they no longer show up in the Submitted column.

Related to this I am having a problem generating correct entries into the color coded "worked" / "QSLed" slots when plugging a callsign into the "Ad / My Logbook" dialogue box. The entries are highly inaccurate, often saying that there is no QSL via LOTW when there very often are whether for a band or a mode. Im sure I am missing something, but do not know what exactly. I have downloaded the "DXCC QSL Download" and uploaded it to LOTW but the very large number of discrepancies remain. I do note that there are several "ways" to upload to LOTW eg "Import ADIF" or "Import LOTW" or "LOTW download". If you would kindly clarify it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and 73s Howard K2EQ

Can you give me some screenshots, Howard? I'm not aware of any inaccuracies and I use this feature extensively.

Hi Mike and thanks for your response. Sorry its taken a while to get back again. Anyway, here is an example, hope these screen shots post. First is the screenshot of LOTW showing that on 40 Meters I do indeed have a QSL for Sardinia. The second is of HRD showing that I have a contact but no QSL. These are frequent concerning Band and Mode.
Sorry If these dont show very well, Ive never uploaded to HRD before and cannot tell if its working.

I have a related problem. For some reason, all my confirmations show up as “not submitted,” even though I upload and download my Qs to LOTW on a regular basis. Is there a way of moving these QSOs to “submitted” so that I can reconcile my LOTW/HRD? Thanks, Eli N6PF
